APRIL International works with a modular building-block system: you combine benefit modules and deductibles so that you only pay for what you actually need – from pure emergency cover to comprehensive protection. For Germans abroad this is especially useful when your situation does not fit a standard pattern.
You set the crucial switch right at the start: fixed-term or open-ended. If you start out as a long-term traveller and emigrate later, say so early – a short-term plan cannot be extended indefinitely, and later medical underwriting may turn out differently from today.

Comprehensive cover with medical underwriting, no time limit and worldwide validity. This is the solution when your stay has no fixed end date: emigration, open-ended work abroad or life as a digital nomad.
The underwriting is not a drawback but the price of predictability: the contract continues even if you fall ill later. That is precisely what short-term plans cannot do.

The zone model determines your premium. North America is the most expensive category because of treatment costs. Be honest in your assessment: regular stopovers and business trips count too – extending afterwards is more work than choosing correctly from the start.
A high deductible noticeably lowers the premium, but it must be payable from your own funds – especially abroad, where clinics often bill before treatment.
Clarify in advance how long and under what conditions you are covered in Germany, and what happens if you return permanently. This question is the most common blind spot in expatriate plans – more on it at health insurance abroad.
My Health International involves medical underwriting. Declare everything in full; incomplete statements are the most common reason for reduced benefits in a claim.
Depending on your situation, other providers may suit better: Cigna Global for very high benefit requirements, PassportCard if you never want to pay up front, Foyer Global Health for open-ended contracts with direct billing, BDAE for emigrants who need a prospective entitlement, and Care Concept for young travellers and students.

My Health International is open-ended comprehensive cover with medical underwriting and worldwide validity – designed for expats and long stays without a fixed end date. MyTempoCover is a travel plan without underwriting for stays of up to twelve months.
Your premium depends on the region where you are staying. North America is the most expensive zone because of high treatment costs. From certain zones, home cover is included so that you are also protected during stays in Germany.
Home cover is provided from certain zones. How many days per year it applies and whether it also covers longer stays differs by plan and should be clarified before you apply – particularly if you return regularly.
Short-term plans are designed for a maximum of twelve months and cannot be continued indefinitely. If your stay is extended you need a follow-up solution, and with open-ended comprehensive cover that means fresh medical underwriting. Plan for this early.
Through the Easy Claim app you photograph the bill and submit it digitally. Telemedicine is also available around the clock, which is the fastest first point of contact in regions with limited medical infrastructure.

We advise Germans who live, work and travel abroad. With APRIL International it comes down to zone, modules and duration logic – and that is exactly where we start.

Abroad, every hour counts. We are available via WhatsApp, video call or phone – across time zones.
You see what each module costs and which gap appears if you leave it out – including zone choice and deductible.

A sabbatical, emigration or nomadic life lead to entirely different plans. We choose by outlook, not by price list.
On a change of zone, an extension or a return to Germany, we sort out the transitions before gaps appear.
